Resident Code of Conduct
All residents agree to follow these expectations as a condition of their stay:
✅Respect: Treat staff, residents, and neighbours with dignity and kindness.
🚫No Violence or Threats: Zero tolerance for aggression, intimidation, or harassment.
🚫No Illegal Substances or Weapons: Strictly prohibited on or near shelter property.
🔇Quiet and Consideration: No loitering, littering, or disruptive behaviour.
🏠Respect for Property: Take care of shelter and community spaces.
🕒Accountability: Follow curfews, check-ins, and program expectations.
🧹Cleanliness: Maintain personal and shared areas.
Neighbourhood Standards
Residents are expected to act as good neighbours:
- Be courteous and respectful in the community
- Use designated on-site smoking areas
- Keep the grounds clean and free of litter
- Represent Choices with pride and accountability
Safety and Respect for All
Choices Shelter is a private, staffed facility.
- Unannounced visits or attempts to enter the shelter property are not permitted.
- Threats, harassment, or intimidation toward staff or residents will not be tolerated and may be referred to law enforcement.
- Photographs of clients on social media is strongly discouraged as this could pose a safety threat to the client seeking refuge. Privacy laws will be taken very seriously.
- We welcome constructive communication and encourage concerns to be shared through the proper contact channels listed below.
