Resident Code of Conduct

All residents agree to follow these expectations as a condition of their stay:

โœ…Respect: Treat staff, residents, and neighbours with dignity and kindness.

๐ŸšซNo Violence or Threats: Zero tolerance for aggression, intimidation, or harassment.

๐ŸšซNo Illegal Substances or Weapons: Strictly prohibited on or near shelter property.

๐Ÿ”‡Quiet and Consideration: No loitering, littering, or disruptive behaviour.

๐Ÿ Respect for Property: Take care of shelter and community spaces.

๐Ÿ•’Accountability: Follow curfews, check-ins, and program expectations.

Neighbourhood Standards

Residents are expected to act as good neighbours:

  • Be courteous and respectful in the community
  • Use designated on-site smoking areas
  • Keep the grounds clean and free of litter
  • Represent Choices with pride and accountability

Safety and Respect for All

Choices Shelter is a private, staffed facility.

  • Unannounced visits or attempts to enter the shelter property are not permitted.
  • Threats, harassment, or intimidation toward staff or residents will not be tolerated and may be referred to law enforcement.
  • Photographs of clients on social media is strongly discouraged as this could pose a safety threat to the client seeking refuge. Privacy laws will be taken very seriously.
  • We welcome constructive communication and encourage concerns to be shared through the proper contact channels listed below.
